Crazy About Crazy About You

Crazy About You Waterfront Dining
Crazy About You Waterfront Dining

Crazy About You is in a great location and one of the few places you can get a good meal with a waterfront view.

The staff is attentive, they have a decent wine list that is reasonably priced, and their menu is affordable.  I like the Serrano Croquettas, Calamari Flatbread, and Mikey’s Slow Braised Steak with Creamy Arborio Rice.

L’Atelier Gourmet and AB Fine Wines

I just came back from a wine tasting at L’Atelier Gourment and AB Fine Wines.  What a great way to spend a Friday evening!  I went with some French friends who went crazy over the pastries saying they were so French they reminded them of their childhood.  I tasted (and purchased) some amazing wines to start figuring out what I will be serving at Thanksgiving.

If you live and/or work in Downtown Dadeland, take a stroll across U.S. 1.  They have wine tastings most Friday evenings.

Great Wine and Tapas Bar – In a Gas Station!

Miami Tapas Bar
Miami Tapas Bar

The other day I was heading back to the office and I was starving so I pulled into a gas station that I knew had awesome sandwiches.  Guess I haven’t been in there for a really long time because when I walked in, there was wine everywhere and the back of the gas station had been converted into a mini “taverna”,  called El Carajo, complete with a wine bar and small wooden tables.  Since I was starving, I ordered a bunch of tapas to go:  Tortilla de Chorizo, Croquetas de Bacalao, and Boquerones.  They were all delicious and I had enough to snack on later that evening and the next day.  I only wish I hadn’t had to go back to work so I could have done some wine tasting.  They had an amazing selection and very reasonable prices.  I will definitely be back.

AB Fine Wines – Wine Tastings In Your Home

I just attended a wine tasting at a friend’s home that was put on by AB Fine Wines.  We tasted a  champagne and several wines from France.  In addition to having some very nice wines at extremely reasonable prices, Alex is knowledgeable about a wide variety of wines from all over the world and can work with just about any budget to either help you build your wine cellar or put on a nice evening event.

Why Homeownership is Like Drinking Red Wine

Both are good for your health! According to a recent U.S. News & World Report article there are more than just economic benefits in owning your own home. "People have more extensive social support systems, and that has a potential positive impact on health," according to William Rohe, professor of city and regional planning at the University of North Carolina. Although the individual health benefits of homeownership are unclear and other factors such as education and income level may come into play, there is proof that homeownership is good for children, because it provides stability, and the community because homeowners have a reason to invest in their community through voting, philanthropy, and volunteering.

Like the health benefits of wine, however, the benefits of homeownership can turn into liabilities if you overindulge. Too much wine on a short-term basis can cause a nasty hangover and in the long run can lead to liver damage. Kind of feels like today’s real estate market.
