The answer to my Where’s JWo post on 8-3-2011, is the Canyon Ranch Grill at the beautiful Canyon Ranch Hotel and Spa on Miami Beach. Once home to the Carillon Hotel, an epitome of the Miami Modern style of many of the Collins Avenue hotels in the 1950’s and ’60’s, Canyon Ranch is a restored, expanded and updated luxurious destination.

I love mussels and think determining which restaurant has the best mussels is going to be tough, but I am going to try. Each restaurant has their own nuanced recipe so “best” is really just a teaser to get to taste a lot of “best” mussel receipes. So far, I really like:
Ortanique on the Mile: Red Stripe Beer Steamed Mediterranean Mussels
Michaels Genuine: Steamed in a roasted tomato harissa broth
George’s: Steamed with Garlic, Shallots and Parsley in White Wine
Cafe Pastis: Steamed in Shallots and White Wine.
My favorite’s are the first two. Have you tried any of these? Where do you rate them? Write down your favorite mussel spot…I am looking for some with a curry flavor.
