Miami-Dade County Public Schools Continue To Improve

An article in Wednesday’s Miami Herald stated that Miami-Dade County Public School District students outperform their national peers on their National Assessment in Education Progress (NAEP) exams.

The quality of our public schools and the educational options we provide parents, increase Miami’s ability to attract and maintain businesses by providing an educated workforce.  Increased businesses = increased # employees = increase in home sales.

California Contemporary in Palmetto High School District

Miami Palmetto High School has long had a reputation of being a great high school and many families move into Pinecrest or Palmetto Bay so their children can attend.  There are other areas west of U.S 1 that are often overlooked that also have Miami Palmetto High School as their home school.

This house, at 12150 SW 88 Avenue, is such a house.  At 4,747 square feet, there is plenty of room for a large family.  The split floor plan has a separate children’s suite complete with their own play/study room.  The expansive family room has enough space for sitting and relaxing or playing games.   More for your money and still a great school district!

Miami Palmetto Senior High School Has Another Great Year

As Miami-Dade County Public Schools wraps up their academic calendar and students get ready for their summer vacation that starts later this week, I am amazed at how rapidly another school year flew by.  My children are wrapping up their last years of high school and I am grateful that I live in a community that appreciates the difficulties the public schools are experiencing, both economically and because of increased competition, and steps up to the plate to assist.

Some of the achievements of Miami Palmetto Senior High School for the 2009-2010 school year, in no particular order:

  • 15 Silver Knight nominees, winners Noah Gray and Veronica Rigl, honorable mention Michael Grey

  • won the Class 6A All-Sports Trophy, given to the county’s top athletic program, for the fourth time in the past five years
  • Dade Scholar Athlete of the Year – Denizen Kocak
  • Principal of the Year recipient – Howard Weiner
  • 142 AP Scholars
